The Tubah Council in Mezam Division will soon benefit from a poverty alleviation scheme carried out under the auspices of the World Bank.

This is in line with a project called Safety Net and concerns about twenty thousand households in Tubah Subdivision.

The sum of 180 million CFA is to be injected into the Tubah economy for distribution to the beneficiary households. The recipients are to invest the money in income-generating activities to improve their livelihoods.

The Safety Net team from the North West region is to begin the final registration of the 1000 beneficiaries this week for the project that is to run for a period of one year.

The Safety Net program has objectives to ameliorate the living conditions of poor and vulnerable populations, while also improving behaviors related to the health, nutrition, and education of beneficiaries.

The program includes a cash transfer component and a public work component. It also includes training activities related to financial literacy and income generation, supported by NGOs and other institutions.
