President Biya orders Defence Ministry and National Gendarmerie to investigate the killing of Martinez Zogo

In a release signed by Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, Cameroon’s Minister of State, Secretary General at The Presidency of The Republic — president Paul Biya has ordered for findings into the murder of Martinez Zogo.

The release signed on January 27th, 2023, five days after the killing of the journalist and manager of Amplitude FM — has ordered the Defence Ministry and the National Gendarmerie  to pilot the investigations.

“Ensure that findings of the investigation are communicated to the presidency,” the statement reads.

This comes at the time when journalists in Cameroon have been mounting pressure on the government to provide answers following the killing of their colleague.

Skepticism are however, rife, given that similar instructions have never been followed through — leading to many unresolved cases.
