President Buhari has congratulated the winner of the 2023 general elections, Bola Tinubu, describing him as the best man for the job.

In a statement, shortly after Tinubu was declared winner of the February 2023 election, President Buhari promised to ensure orderly handover of power, describing the polls as Africa’s biggest democratic process.

Buhari also acknowledged some of the technical hitches and other areas that need work to bring further transparency and credibility to the voting process.

He however maintained that, none of the issues registered represent a challenge to the free and fair nature of the elections.

He called Calling on all candidates to remember the peace accord, President Buhari rounds off with a resounding call to not undermine the credibility of the elections.

70-year-old Bola Ahmed Tinubu, representing the All Progressive Congress (APC) was on Wednesday, March 1st 2023, declared the winner of the Nigerian Presidential elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in Nigeria.

The candidate for the APC won with 8,794,726 votes accounting for 36.61% of the total ballots.

He was followed by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who had 6,984,520 votes accounting for 29.07%.

Labour Party’s Peter Obi, who was the favourite to win, came a distant third with 6,101,533 votes accounting for 25.4%.

This means Tinubu surpassed Mr. Obi with 2,693,193 votes.
