Gospel artist, Pastor Prosper Germoh, has returned from the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) with his head held high, after representing Cameroon as the only gospel artist from the country nominated in the prestigious Best Gospel category.

The awards ceremony, held on Saturday, September 12, at the Annette Strauss Square in Dallas, Texas, brought together Africa’s biggest musical talents.

Germoh was nominated alongside a formidable lineup of African gospel giants, including Sinach, Nathaniel Bassay, Ada Ehi, Mercy Chinwo, Frank Edwards, Benjamin Dube, Joe Mettle, Deborah Lukalu, and Tim Godfrey.

Mercy Chinwo of Nigeria won the category. Despite not winning, Prosper Germoh’s nomination alone was a major milestone for Cameroonian gospel music on the continental stage.

In a message shared with MMI News after the awards, he expressed deep gratitude for the recognition.

“Being nominated for the Best Gospel category at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards is an honour I deeply appreciate and will never take for granted,” he said.

“To have my name, Prosper Germoh — Cameroon, recognized alongside remarkable Gospel ministers and artists from across Africa is already a significant milestone in my journey,” he added.

In the nomination letter dated July 20, 2026, AFRIMMA said Pastor Germoh was spotted for his “exceptional talent, creativity, and contribution to the continued growth and global influence of African music.”

Prosper Germoh warmly congratulated Mercy Chinwo on her victory, and honoured all other artists nominated alongside him.

“To be listed among such gifted and impactful Gospel voices from across our continent is something I deeply appreciate. Gospel music continues to cross borders, transform lives, and carry the message of hope and faith to the nations,” he said.

The nomination, to him, was a victory for Cameroon and for his supporters worldwide.

“Every vote mattered. Every post you shared mattered. Every message, phone call, encouragement, and effort you made mattered. This nomination belongs to all of us,” he noted.

Though the trophy went elsewhere this year, Pastor Prosper Germoh remained forward-thinking about the future, having gained greater visibility for his growing music career.

“We may not have taken home the trophy this time, but we have gained something very valuable — greater visibility, greater reach, greater experience, and an even stronger global family. The journey continues, and the best is yet to come,” he said.

AFRIMMA is one of Africa’s biggest award events, which celebrates talent, creativity, culture and spotlights the continent to the world. The yearly event suffered a two-year halt before returning this year for its 13th edition

For Germoh, the AFRIMMA nomination will remain visible evidence of his music’s impact on the continent. It is not only a personal achievement but proves the growing influence of Cameroonian gospel music on the African landscape.
