Employees of the Bolloré logistics company have recently been protesting following the refusal of the company to apply section 42 of the Cameroonian labor code.
The code stipulates that in case of transfer of ownership of an enterprise, the contracts signed between management and employees remains legal.
According to the protesting employees, Bolloré company does this in complicity with the top management which is directed by nationals of Ivorian nationality.
On Friday, July 29, 2022, employees of the company went to work in black as a sign of discontent and grief.
According to an employee, “Bolloré has sold its company 100% to MSC ( Mediterranean Shipping Company). Currently, the employees have decided to work in black to mark their suffering.
He added that the Bolloré company, in conspiration with the MSC, “… Rather prefers to give briefcases of money to Yaoundé in order to disregard the application of this law.”
Bolloré Cameroon which deals in maritime and rail transport is based in the port of Douala, Littoral Region of Cameroon.
