After many years of miserable roads in Bamenda, the government is delivering on its recent commitment to change the image of the town’s transport system.
The latest developments align with a promise made by the Prime Minister, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, when he visited Bamenda in July to evaluate the progress of the construction of the Babadjou-Bamenda Road and other key government projects.
The current road works in Bamenda are intended to overhaul the region’s infrastructure, enhance circulation, and stimulate economic growth.
Other key projects sponsored by the government and its development partners include the bridge leading to the Old Town, and an administrative block in Mile 4 Nkwen.
Residents and motorists are currently grappling with tempted road diversions, particularly along the Veterinary Junction and Finance section, as well as the bridge linking the Old Town neighborhood.
While the disruptions may cause short-term inconvenience, authorities say, upgrading the road will ultimately improve the quality of life for Bamenda’s residents and boost local commercial activities.
