Regional Elections: CPDM to engage electors through Facebook, WhatsApp as Musonge launches campaigns in SW

The ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM, party has launched its campaigns ahead of the December 6 Regional Elections, the first-ever in Cameroon’s history.

Launching regional campaigns in Buea, Southwest CPDM campaign Manager, Peter Mafany Musonge told scores of supporters to demonstrate commitment and loyalty to the party during the campaign period.

He has urged them to utilize diverse communication means including WhatsApp, Facebook, and SMS, to enable the party to win the Regional Elections.

Municipal Councillors will vote for Regional Councillors on December 6, along with traditional rulers who will be voting their peers into the House of Chiefs.

The ruling CPDM party controls all the Municipal Councils in the South West Region. The party’s victory in the region is therefore certain.

Political observers say the decision to reach the electors through Facebook, WhatsApp, and SMS is because of the bloody conflict unfolding in the North West and South West Regions.

Armed men fighting to restore the independence of a country they call Ambazonia have vowed to block the polls and all its related activities.

It will be a suicide mission for Musonge and his team to travel by road to the six divisional headquarters of the South West Region to carry out campaigns.
