Fo Sambankeing Kaffo Langevin, 24, has mounted the throne of Babadjou Fondom in Bamboutous Division, as the kingdom’s 11th monarch.
His coronation ceremony today was attended by thousands, including several traditional rulers from neighbouring kingdoms in the North West Region and elsewhere.
Among the attendees were Fon Angwafo of Mankon, the Fon of Nkwen, and the Fon of Aghem. Also in attendance were dozens of government officials, elites, and the population of Babadjou.
The young ruler succeeds his father, HRM Sambankeing Temgoua Bertrand, who died in 2017.
HRM Fo Sambankeing Kaffo Langevin was selected immediately after his father’s death, but could not mount the throne owing to his academic pursuits.
The President of the organising committee of his coronation ceremony, Jean Tchoffo, told Cameroon Tribune the young ruler needed to complete his studies in Agricultural Engineering.
With the help of his notables and decentralized traditional structures, the First Class ruler will oversee a kingdom of over 57,000 people.
