Release of Kamto and allies soon…

Opposition party leader Maurice Kamto, president of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM), who according to the electoral commission came second in the October 2018 presidential election is expected to be freed today following Presidential instructions yesterday.

He was arrested in the economic capital Douala along with his allies Eric Kinge, Albert Dzongang and Christian Penda Ekoka.
They were taken to the Yaoundé ‘’Police Judiciaire’’ and were not allowed to meet their lawyers. Others were taken to GSO, a feared Police Unit.

In parallel, two other members of the MRC were arrested. They are Alain Fogue, treasurer of the party and Célestin Djamen who was taken by the police from Douala general hospital where he was undertaking medical care after being wounded by bullet during the weekend protest.

Today, they are pictured readying themselves to leave the Kondengui Principal Prison where they have been held since January 2019.

Brilliant lawyer Michelle Ndoki is also expected to be freed along with other MRC supporters.
