Retired priests of the Roman Catholic Church in Bamenda archdiocese, were welcomed into their new apartment home on Easter Sunday, a significant milestone for the clergy community.
The inauguration of the eight-apartment house was presided over by the Archbishop of Bamenda, His Grace Andrew Fuanya Nkea.
The ceremony, held during an Easter dinner, was graced by the presence of North West Governor Adolphe Lele L’Afrique.
Situated close to the renowned Sacred Heart College in Mankon, Bamenda, the newly constructed retirement home is designed to provide comfortable and dignified living arrangements for retired and sick priests of the region.
The Archbishop stated that the house serves as a passage for all priests, as they eventually transition into retirement.
“We have at least eight apartments and the general facility ready. So it is set for us to enter,” His Grace Andrew Nkea remarked.
The inauguration of the facility was met with joy and gratitude among the clergy community, particularly for Monsignors Lucas Sanosi and Clemens Ndze, who became the first occupants of the retirement home.
The provision of the retirement home serves as a timely gift to the priests of Bamenda, coinciding with the Easter celebrations commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Amidst the festivities, His Grace Nkea urged Christians to overcome fear and embrace hope.
Thousands of Roman Catholics in Bamenda participated in the Easter celebrations, rejoicing in the spirit of renewal and faith.
