The music singer has added her name to a long list of important personalities denouncing the harsh treatment meted out on the media in Cameroon.

She criticised government’s handling of Buea based journalist Samuel Wazizi. “Enough is enough!” she exclaimed.

“Wazizi, a Cameroonian journalist cannot imprisoned at the central prison in Yaounde, dead since August 2019, and his family is not informed. Ten months later we are told of his death. We demand the truth about his death! What happened? Why?” she lamented.

Kareyce like many others does not believe in the government’s statement published by the Ministry of Defence, in which some questionable results to as to the death of Buea based journalist Samuel Wazizi is concerned.

It should be noted that Kareyce Fotso is one of the few personalities in the entertainment industry to question the circumstances that led to Wazizi’s death.

Bernard Tchoutang, former indomitable lion player equally added his voice to call for a proper follow up and to uncover the actual truth as regards to what happened to Samuel Wazizi.

French Ambassador to Cameroon Christophe, Guillhou after an audience with the President of the Republic Paul Biya on June 5, 2020 assured Cameroonians and the press that the president had personally told him an independent investigation will be opened to uncover the truth to Wazizi’s death.

The questionable thing as to Guillhou’s statement was when the president was going to open investigations and if they would yield any fruits if finally opened.

Cameroonians can only hope that justice is done and a favourable environment established for the press to work in freedom and fairness.
