The Senior Divisional Officer of Nyong-et-So’o in the Centre Region, Emmanuel Ledoux, has banned the production and consumption of homemade alcoholic drinks in the area.
This follows the tragic death of over 11 people at Nnom-Nnam village in the Ngomedzap neighborhood of Nyong et So’o Division.
According to reports, the 11 persons, said to be supporters of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) party, died after allegedly consuming a common local drink known as “Odontol”.
In a release signed on December 12, 2022, the Nyong-et-So’o SDO noted that the production and consumption of homemade alcoholic drinks “… are and remain prohibited throughout the Nyong and So’o division”.
He instructed Divisional Officers and law enforcement to implement the decision.
