The Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, for Bui division in the North West region, Gilbert Sunday Meyong has set April 30th as the deadline for the award of all public contracts in his jurisdiction.
The contracts are those within the 2022 public investment budget for the division. The action according to the SDO is to prevent the recurrent problem of poorly executed or uncompleted projects in the area.
Statistics of the year 2021 indicate that 15 out of the 82 projects awarded in Bui are still to kickstart while 30 projects are ongoing. This puts the execution rate for last year at 59.7%.
The Bui SDO, used these statistics to caution stakeholders to be more meticulous this year for better results.
” I signed a circular instructing all my mayors to award contracts latest the 30th of April. I have also instructed all project engineers not to pen their signatures on any uncompleted or poorly executed projects”.
Bui is division is said to be running on a budget of about 2 billion FCFA for this fiscal year.
