Several persons have reportedly been arrested in Kumba, Meme division of the South West region.
They were arrested following a military raid in the area.
Locals say security forces stormed a locality in the town known as Bamelike quarter, next to the Mother Francisca School where last year’s shooting took place.
Locals testify that the security officers whisked off several persons from their homes.
We gathered that some houses were broken into and their occupants taken away by the mixed security team.
Others who had gone out for their daily activities were also intercepted and taken into custody.
The exact reason for the raid remains unknown.
Such raids it should be noted are not uncommon in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon.
In most cases, those picked up with or without identification papers are compelled to pay out huge sums of money for their release, not backed by any receipts.
Despite multiple outcries, authorities continue to turn a blind eye to the phenomenon.
