Members of the Cameroon Journalists Trade Union (SNJC) – South West chapter and other journalists in the region will tomorrow Thursday June 4th gather at the Governor’s office in Buea.

According to Derick Jato, President of SNJC South West, they are going there to demand answers about the whereabouts of journalist Samuel Wazizi from Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai.

“We still consider news of Wazizi’ death as rumours. We want to know the truth from a competent administrative authority before the next action” Derick Jato told Mimi Mefo Info on phone from Buea Wednesday June 3rd 2020.

This comes shortly after the National President of SNJC Denis Nkwebo and the National President of Cameroon Association of English speaking journalists (CAMASEJ) Jude VIBAN called on journalists to be on alert for any protest move to be announced in the hours ahead. They want members to show discontent following the death of Samuel Wazizi.

In a tweet, Denis Nkwebo confirmed that Samuel Wazizi died at the military hospital in Yaounde after torture.
