She was driving back from an occasion on November 21 evening when six heavily-armed men stopped her vehicle at Logbessou,  Douala 5 Subdivision, with all six men crossing over her.

The victim, whom we will call only as Anne for her personal protection, says was returning from a birthday party when the men followed her vehicle on motorcycles.

They bypassed her and ordered her to stop, which she did.

“They were armed with a machete and a pistol, one of them broke the front window of my car with his machete. They asked me to get out of the vehicle, I did. Outside, they started asking me a series of questions: ‘Where did I come from?’ ‘Who did I live with?’

“Despite the answers I gave, they said I was not telling them the truth .It was then that one of them said ‘We are going to rape you’. I begged with all my strength but they did not listen to me. They were six of them and they all passed over me in turns.”

“With a gun over my head, they forbade me from screaming, let alone cry. When it became so horrible and I started crying, one of them approached me with his machete to slit my throat; but he was stopped by his accomplices.”

“The smallest among them, who was the nastiest, and who had also suggested the idea of raping me, passed over me twice. He took so long that you would have thought I was his girlfriend. Once their dirty work was done, they hit me on the head to the point where I was bleeding from my nostrils. They left me there and left.”

The young girl was later discovered by an old woman who alerted neighbors who carried her to a hospital.

A complaint was then filed at the Judicial Police of the Littoral and the investigation will be carried out at GMI n° 2 of Douala.

Two weeks later the suspects were apprehended with the victim formally identifying them.

Reports say they will be presented to the judge in the coming days after fully confessing to the police.

Cameroonian authorities have said people should be cautious especially during the festive December period as rape cases heightened in the past few months.
