Reports say up to five people were killed yesterday at Dienyi village in Meme Division, Southwest, following a military operation aimed at sourcing out Ambazonia commander, Ikeku.
Sources say about 25 homes were burnt during the military operation, with several civilians arrested and detained, including eight women.
A source in Dienyi said among those who were arrested and detained was Mrs Caroline Mokwe, wife of the traditional ruler of Dienyi village.
The military however failed to capture ‘General’ Ikeku as he had escaped alongside his gang of separatists fighters before the military got in.
The military officers also took control of some civilian homes which were turned into military bases.
These include the residence of Francis Mokwe, an Elder of the Catholic Church in Dieyni village, and the Cocoa business House of one Cyprian Ngwe which was made a military base.
Hundreds of villagers are said to be hiding in bushes around the village while others reportedly trekked to Kumba, the closest town several kilometers away.
The operation is the second launched by the security and defence forces against the said Separatist commander and this time the military came in 12 different trucks.
