An armed separatist group known as “The Fako Action Forces” have claimed responsibility for the kidnapping and attack on chiefs in Buea Sunday.

HRH Chief Emmanuel Ngale Ikome, of Mile 14 Buea died Sunday in captivity after he was kidnapped alongside the Chiefs of Mile 15 (Lower Bokova) and Chief of Mile 16 (Bolifamba).

Chief Ngale had a pre-medical condition and could not survive the kidnap, we gathered.

“We also regret to confirm the passing away of one chief who died as a result of his poor health, of which even those propagating their divide/ role LRC mindset tendencies are aware of the cause of his death because doctors confirmed the cause of his death but that tribalistic mindsets chooses to spread lies about his death..” a statement from an official of the group Fombat Forbah said.

The statement added that the two Chiefs of Mile 15 and 16 have long been released.

It also said none of them was tortured or maltreated.

“…They were released after they apologised and promised never to get involved in anything LR du Cameroun and we can assure you all that our eyes are on every Ambazonia”, added the communique.

There have been widespread condemnations over the kidnappings of chiefs in the restive Anglophone regions.

Ambazonia fighters have often accused traditional rulers of aiding the government “in ruthlessly killing their people”
