The Minister of Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, visited the Indomitable Lions in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast, last night ahead of their crucial encounter against Senegal in the ongoing AFCON tournament.

The Minister, expressing hope, expectations, and confidence, urged the national team to remain steadfast and secure a decisive victory against Senegal.

His visit is seen as a significant morale booster for the team, resonating with the sentiments of fans across Cameroon.

The Indomitable Lions, led by coach Rigobert Song, are set to face defending champions Senegal in a must-win game at 6 pm today.

The outcome of this match will determine the Lions’ fate in the tournament, making it a high-stakes encounter.

During a press conference yesterday, Song assured fans that the team was prepared to deliver a victory.

However, the absence of captain Vincent Aboubakar, who missed the opening draw against Guinea due to injury, poses a challenge for the Lions.

The AFCON 2021 golden boot winner will once again be sidelined, leaving a void in the team’s lineup.

Despite this setback, the Lions are determined to overcome the formidable Senegal side and progress in the tournament.

Senegal, led by Al Nassr forward Sadio Mane, currently tops Group C after securing a 3-0 victory against Gambia in their first match. .

The Teranga Lions have won four of five previous games and have recorded one draw. They defeated Cameroon 1-0 in their last meeting on October 16, 2023.
