Surgar scarcity is feared across local markets in Cameroon in the days ahead. This is following the country’s sugar producing company, SOSUCAM’s announcement of a temporary suspension of production activities in Mbandjock plant, in the Upper Sanaga division of the Centre region.
The announcement was made April 2022. The company in the release blamed the development on fuel scarcity.
According the release, the fuel supplier the company had engaged could no longer honor daily deliveries of fuel needed for their operation.
The company however assured the population that the precautionary measure will be lifted, immediately the situation is addressed.
This comes admist ongoing fuel shortages not unconnected to the Russia-Ukraine conflict on Cameroon’s economy.
