Thieve caught on surveillance camera in Buea, Cameroon
By David Atangana
A young man was caught on camera stealing in a student accommodation in Buea, South West Region.
On the evening of August 18th, 2023, a thief armed with a machete entered the Molyko student neighbourhood near Mayor’s Street.
He quietly stalked his way into one of the dorms and stole some money and electronics.
My rental unit was the location of the incident. The landlady boasted, “I have security cameras everywhere, and they all feed into a screen in my living room.”
This, as she explained it, was not the first time. He has been barging into this area. He wore a disguise the first time but was exposed this time.
He performed his first operation at a home he rented. When we got out of bed to look, there was his likeness. Security cameras at the time showed him wearing a pullover and a cap that covered all except his eyes, she claimed.
His face was reportedly revealed to his interested victims during his last surgery on August 18, 2023.
Despite the availability of security cameras, he has regularly attempted to break into the hostel and has always gotten away with it.
She went on to say, “There was a time when he targeted three days non-stop.”
A neighbourhood watch has been activated, and a manhunt has begun for him.
