The Governor of the North West region, Adolphe Lele L’Afrique Deben Tchoffo has said the people seen leaving the region in droves to the French speaking regions of Cameroon are students who were on holidays.

He was speaking yesterday Sunday August 25, 2019 in an interview granted the state broadcaster on the program Cameroon calling.
In reaction to the Governor’s outing, many have cried out loud that this country is what it is now due to lies telling. After talking to many people who were involved in the mass movement, one of them who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals said:
“I am leaving because there is so much uncertainty about the situation on ground and aggravated by military harassment. Also sometimes we are been caught in cross fire between the restoration forces and the military.”

Thousands of passengers left Bamenda and other Anglophone cities last weekend

Another traveller said the prolong lockdown imposed by the pro-independence fighters is one of his reasons among others for leaving Bamenda. He also cited cases of military harassment, slowdown in business, a complete failure in school resumption which cannot permit his children to attend school.

He is thus moving to the French speaking part of Cameroon to rescue the situation of the education of his children.
As the movement of people keeps increasing, more and more people queued up in transport companies as late as last night to find their way out of the region. Transport fare was inflated from 5,000FCFA to 8,500 FCFA to 15,000 from Bamenda to Yaounde, Douala, etc.
