A gang of three, consisting of a woman alongside two men have narrowly escaped death after they were caught and battered by some Buea inhabitants.

The incident occurred today, Friday May 6.

According to sources, the victim who happens to be a money transfer agent boarded a taxi earlier today, for her business site.

Unknown to her, the driver and those on board happened to be bandits who had set up the “fake” taxi, in a bid to rob her of her valuables.

Once on board, the said bandits reportedly robbed the victim of all her proceed.

Unfortunately for them, while attempting to throw the victim off the taxi, the latter’s shout attracted the attention of the population who in turn stopped the taxi and laid hold of the bandits.

The Bandits were however rescued due to the timely intervention the forces of law and order.

Rising insecurity in taxis has become the order of the day in towns like Buea.

Meanwhile acts like this, has left most money transfer agents with the feeling of unsafety as they are now considered main targets by bandits.
