Tokombere: What We Really Know About the Health of Cavaye Yeguie Djibril

For several days, social media has been flooded with contradictory information regarding the health status of the Speaker of the National Assembly.

A report published in a local outlet claims that the video in which Cavaye Yéguié Djibril denies being medically evacuated to South Africa is an old recording from 2018, reigniting the controversy.

According to several reliable sources cross-checked on the ground, no medical evacuation to South Africa has taken place, contrary to widely circulated online rumors, spurred by Jeune Afrique.

On Sunday, January 18, 2026, youths from the locality visited Mada to see the situation firsthand.

After their visit, they stated that they found the Speaker of the National Assembly in a stable and reassuring state of health, contradicting the persistent speculation.

This investigation highlights the need—in a context marked by the virality of social media—to prioritize verified facts, on-the-ground sources, and cross-referenced information before sharing any news.

For now, the information gathered in Tokombéré points to the same conclusion: Cavaye Yéguié Djibril has not been evacuated abroad and is indeed in Mada.

However, the Speaker absentee from the New Year Wishes ceremony at the Unity Palace and was also absent from his own ceremony at the National Assembly.
