Streets in Tombel town were empty this Monday August 26, 2019. Tombel is situated in Kupe-Manenguba Division, South West region of Cameroon.
Only government soldiers could be spotted. Civilians were all indoors. “Others travelled out of the town before today as the ghost town calls intensified,” a source said.
In Bamenda and Limbe, streets were also empty and businesses grounded.
Pro-independence fighters and Ambazonian leaders have announced a three-week lockdown to protest the life sentences slammed on Sisiku Ayuk Tabe and co and to disrupt back-to-school 2019.
It remains uncertain how tomorrow will look like. Ghost town is traditionally observed on Mondays in the restive North West and South West Regions.
