A teenager in Kumbo, Bui division of the restive North West Region has been killed by a hand grenade. The grenade was used by the army against separatist fighters but failed to detonate. He found it days later in the farm and set it off unknowingly.

In a related incident, a young boy was gunned down near the central market in Buea, South West Region. Frank as was called, had gone out at night to hunt snails as usual, but met his demise. He was shot dead few metres away from a military checkpoint.

The 66 checkpoints along the Douala-Maroua road will be slashed in the days ahead. The announcement was made by the Minister of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo in a release to his colleague of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji. Of the 66 checkpoints, 39 are said to be irregular and the other 27, regular mixed checkpoints.

Trade officials have withdrawn some products belonging to the Kinder brand from the market. The said products, they revealed, are suspected of containing a bacterium responsible for food poisoning. Authorities have also assured the public of constant controls to regulate quality content of other such products in the market.

Movie maker, Kang Quintus has rendered an apology to his colleague, Dr Belinda Babila. Kang Quintus caused a stir after he mounted the stage during Dr Belinda’s The Bamboozler movie premiere. He has since apologised to her but maintains that he meant what he said about Cameroon needing collaboration and not support from Nigeria.

Coton Sport of Garoua’s assistant coach, Haman Gabriel has taken over control of the squad for the time being. This comes following the indefinite suspension of head coach, Souleymanu Aboubakar by the board of directors. This was after the team failed to win its last 11 games in all competitions.
