Workers of the Ministry of Transport in Yaoundé commemorated the 138th International Labour Day with a call for constructive social dialogue.

They urging Minister Jean Ernest Massina Ngalle Bibehe to foster better communication between them and the hierarchy.

The theme for this year’s Labour Day celebration was “Constructive social dialogue, vector of decent work and social progress.”

The event at the Ministry of Transport was a moment for workers to table their concerns to hierarchy, notable the need for enhanced dialogue between both parties.

They commenced celebrations with personnel of the Ministry parading in their unique attire before State dignitaries at the 20th May Boulevard.

Minister Ngalle Bibehe, standing tall as their shepherd, observed the display with pride and appreciation for his team’s dedication.

The festivities continued at the esplanade of the Ministry of Transport, adorned in the vibrant colors of the day – sky-blue and white.

The highlight of the celebration was the address by Staff Representative, Etila Jean Desiré, who acknowledged the efforts made thus far in creating a conducive work atmosphere.

However, he urged for the re-establishment of a permanent dialogue between the hierarchy and workers, regular discussions with Personnel Delegates to gauge the general atmosphere, and an increase in incentives and rewards to boost morale.

In response, Minister Ngalle Bibehe reassured the personnel of his commitment to constructive dialogue aimed at fortifying a serene work environment.

He pledged to increase efforts to improve working conditions and promote community life and sporting activities within the Ministry.

The Minister concluded by emphasizing the importance of discipline and probity in service to the State, urging the personnel to uphold these values in their daily work.

The celebration was filled with music, dance, and camaraderie, culminating in a dinner where Minister Ngalle Bibehe engaged with his personnel, further fostering a sense of unity and solidarity among the ministry’s staff.
