Barrister Tamfu Richard has expressed dissatisfaction following a one-year prison sentence and a fine of 500.000 FCFA slammed on three boys today by the Mbanga Court of First Instance. The boys were found guilty of using derogatory words against President Paul Biya and other ministers in a video that went viral on social media. To the Barrister, the boys would have been given suspended sentences as a warning.


Hundreds of families in Douala IV have been rendered homeless following a demolition exercise supervised by security officers. To the victims, the case over the said piece of land is in Court thus the demolition is illegal. They regret that they were not notified.


An increasing number of abandoned corpses at the Bamenda Regional Hospital mortuary is alarming. The director of the Hospital, Dr. Nsame says some corpses with bullet wounds are raising a problem of conservation. The hospital therefore is launching a call for people to go for identification and removal to decongest the mortuary.


The Cameroon National Senior Female Handball team is due to take on Angola in the finals of the tourney taking place in Yaoundé. The ladies defeated Congo 21 to 20 goals yesterday. The ladies have intensified training to maximise victory. Angola defeated Tunisia to get to the final. The final of the 24th edition of African Women Handball Championship will take place tomorrow Friday at 6:00 pm.


General Nka Valère, Commander of the fifth military region in the North West has regretted that 60 to 70 % deaths recorded by troops in a military operation in Bui division was linked to indiscipline. He has called on soldiers to remain disciplined and respectful to hierarchy most especially on the field.

Government has promised to install high quality free internet service at the Silicon Mountain high tech centre in Buea in the South West Region. Minette Libom Li Likeng, minister of posts and telecommunication made the promise today in Buea.

The Chadian Minister of National Security has opened the Chadian frontiers with Cameroon that had been closed for several months. This has prompted a massive influx of Chadians into Cameroon. Local authorities have not reacted yet.

Ambazonian Leaders abroad have appealed on the US government to impose tougher sanctions on Cameroon following recent travel restrictions. According to them it should be extended to family members of propagators of bloodshed in the Anglophone regions.

Cameroon has obtained a loan of 106 billion FCFA from the African Development Bank. The money is intended to construct a ring road linking 6 divisions of the Northwest Region.

The Mbanga judicial court has slammed a 1-year jail term on the plantation workers who went on record insulting President Biya’s regime. They have also been ordered to each pay a fine of 500,000FCFA.
