Xenophobic tendencies and hate speech are on the rise in Cameroon. Many have often pointed accusing fingers at members of government for encouraging the practice and going free. To this end, the national Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism opened a colloquium today to sensitise Cameroonians against hate speech.

Some Cameroonian football lovers have been celebrating the elimination of Paris Saint Germain, French football club by English football Club Manchester City from the European Football Champions League. Others who are supporters of the team however went home with contrasting feelings.

Ex-workers of the ministry of culture in Cameroon today staged a protest in front of the ministry in Yaounde. They say they were abusively dismissed in 2019 and are demanding indemnity from the state of Cameroon. The protesters have promised to continue with the strike despite threats from the administration.

The Divisional Officer for Loum is to hold a crisis meeting with Council officials. The population of Loum in the Moungo Division are asking their Mayor to rehabilitate roads and not the grandstand. Women dressed in black protested against the decision of the Mayor who argues that the decision of the Council will be implemented.

Muslim faithful in Cameroon are observing the last 10 days of a month-long fasting ahead of the feast of Ramadan. During this period, they get up at midnight to pray till 4 am. They also carry out other religious practices and customs to mark the period.
