The Ambazonia Bui Warriors, a separatist faction in the North West Region of Cameroon has threatened to attack the Saint Elizabeth General hospital and Cardiac Center, Shishong. This follows the death of one of theirs in the hospital yesterday. In the meantime, three nurses kidnapped yesterday from the hospital have been released.

A blood group test campaign kicked off at the University of Buea today. The campaign is to let students and other workers in the university community to know their blood group and avoid future health inconveniences.

The body of Cameroonian business man, Pascal Monkam is being laid in state in his residence in Douala this evening. Governor Samuel Dieudonne Ivaha Diboa during mass at the airport, upon arrival of the corpse today, described Pascal Monkam as a generous and patriotic man.

Construction work has resumed at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde. It had been halted for several months raising questions of finances. With the resumption of work, workers have been called to respect the deadline ahead of the CAF inspection team’s arrival.

919 people have died in Cameroon since March 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute in an evaluation meeting today called for the continuous respect of COVID-19 preventive measures as Cameroon awaits its first batch of the virus’ vaccine.

Rev. Dieudonne Massi Gams, chairman of the national commission for the fight against corruption says all Cameroonians should be engaged to stop corruption. Speaking in Yaoundé today, he told parliament that the fight against corruption is being hindered by the none-respect of Article 66 of the Cameroon constitution that requires top government officials to declare their assets.

Insecurity is still on the rise in the North West region of Cameroon. This was mentioned to General Rene Claude Meka, chief of army staff in the ministry of defence. Speaking to the official, Heads of services in the military explained successes and challenges they are facing in general, and the fight against separatists in particular.
