Two Cameroonian civilians, Yusufa Hamidou and Oumarou Adamou, were abducted and later executed. Local sources say the act was committed by members of the Ambazonian separatist movement. No separatist group has claimed responsibility yet.
The victims, originally from Nkambe (Binka), were taken from a public transport vehicle and forced to travel in an unknown direction. The kidnappers used the victims’ phones to demand a ransom from their families.
The kidnappers reportedly received a sum of 2,000,000 CFA francs for the release. However, they executed the two men and abandoned their bodies in the locality of Mbawfi. The reports reveal that someone tied up and beat the victims, leaving signs of abuse on their bodies.
This incident adds to the ongoing violence in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon, where separatist groups are fighting for independence. The conflict has led to numerous cases of kidnapping, killing, and other forms of violence by both separatist fighters and government forces.

Some comments have supported the separatist movement, with Destiny Freedom stating that the Mbororo ethnic group, to which the victims belong, had been warned not to interfere in the conflict. “Mbororos had been warned not to interfere in the Ambazonia Federal Republic decolonization war,” the comment reads.
Ngwa Jude Niba also recalled a video by Ambazonian forces warning the Mbororo to stay out of the conflict.
“I remembered in a video online made by the great Ambazonian forces; they warned the Mbororo to stay out of this fight.”
Other commenters, such as Abba Abba, criticise the justifications for the killings, emphasising that violence should not be supported. “Prince Legends, ok so support what the AMBA terrorist did to them, right?? Next time don’t cry foul ya,” Abba Abba wrote.
