A man and a lady have been shot dead in a night club in Akum, a village in the embattled North West region of Cameroon.
Reports say the military while on patrol last night arrived the nightclub at Nyangi Quarter, not far from the Akum Palace, and opened fire.
“Unfortunately some bystanders were affected amongst whom were Mr. Suffor Ndeh whose father died earlier this year and the nursing mother seen in the other picture,” a source explains.
He adds that “on discovering their mistake the military hurriedly carried both bodies to the Holy Family Hospital Mile 6 Akum. Others who were still alive were rushed to Marie Solidad Hospital where they are receiving treatment”.
Several others were arrested during the raid.
Last night’s shooting is one in many, as soldiers are hardly ever called to book over such acts. Authorities maintain that the forces remain professional in their dealings with the population.
