Just like the situation of Amba Denis who got arrested simply for bearing a name that sounds like ‘Ambazonia’ and not seen ever since, so too has Rene Seck been taken by the military in Muyuka.
Information says that he was taken by the military forces on November 7 on allegations he is a separatist fighter, a claim his relatives have strongly denied.
“On the day of his arrests,” his brother tells us, “the military drove to his house and arrested him claiming they had been informed that he was an Amba fighter. They searched his house but they found no weapon to link him to the claim. He was however still taken alongside one other individual who they equally claimed was René’s witch doctor,” he explained.
The other individual who was supposed to be René’s witch doctor was eventually released after being severely tortured but René to this day hasn’t been seen.
“The last time we heard from him was when he made a call saying he was being tortured and still under military custody,” his brother also tells us.
Two legal advocates were consulted to help find and free René from detention but have still not been able to locate exactly where René has been detained.
The victim’s elder brother says one other expert has equally been consulted in Yaoundé to help find him amongst the inmates at the Kondengui maximum prison.
René’s relatives are in absolute fear of what might become of their son in military detention. “Videos and images of military extra-judicial killings and torture have left us very worried and nervous about his fate,” bemoan’s his brother.
