Charles Okello Engola, Uganda’s Minister of Labour, Employment, and Industrial Relations who was recently killed by his bodyguard has been laid to rest.
He was buried yesterday May 13, 2023, in his home in Awangi village, Iceme Sub-country.
Charles Okello Engola was shot dead on the morning of May 2, 2023, by his bodyguard from his home in Kyanja, a Kampala suburb.
According to local media sources, the bodyguard immediately after the act ran to a trade center where he entered a salon and shot himself dead.
The motive was not evident although local media reported there had been an apparent dispute over the guard’s wages.
“Witnesses claim that the soldier was yelling that he had not been paid for a long time despite working for a minister,” reported the online newspaper NilePost.
