A University of Buea graduate who was operating a call box as a way of making ends meet, has been shot dead this Saturday night in Buea, Cameroon’s South West Region.
Bisona Melvis was robbed of all her daily earnings by her attackers, before being shot.
The incident took place at her Mobile Money Kiosk at Mayor Street in Buea, a source, and another call box operator told MMI.
“This girl has just been shot dead by thieves this evening. She operates mobile money kiosks at Mayor street Buea. She was rushed to the hospital but couldn’t make it,” our source who expressed shock over the incident said.
The Body of Bisona has been deposited at the Buea hospital mortuary.
The identities of her killers remain unknown as they succeed in getting away.
But our sources have raised concerns over the dire security situation reigning in some parts of Buea.
They added that several call box operators have been victims of robberies.
Bisona is the first to have been killed in the process.
“…This has been happening to several agents. They monitor you well and attack you either at home or when you are leaving the kiosk,” said our source who refused to be named for security reasons.
Bisona was a graduate from the University of Buea, with a Bsc in Geology and Minor in Petroleum Technology.
