Update Cameroon: At least 15 family members perish in accident while heading to funeral

By Amina Hilda

At least fifteen family members died on the spot in the accident which occurred yesterday along the Douala Eseka stretch in the Littoral region of Cameroon.

The family members who boarded a 19 seater Hiace bus were said to be on their way to the funeral of their mother whose name MMI got as Ngo Sii.

In a viral picture, the names of the 15 deceased persons could be seen listed. Almost all the deceased bore the family name Ngo Mbii.

The bus had over 19 passengers, all believed to be from the same family and the corpse. The HiAce marked bus, unfortunately, came into a head-on collision with a heavy-duty truck around Edea, killing almost half of the bus occupants.

“The bus was carrying a body and a bereaved family. Family members were 19 in total on the Hiace bus. Most of the family members died in the traffic accident,” a witness told MMI.

The tragic loss has remained a bitter pill for many to swallow.
