US announces additional 900million FCFA for fight against HIV in Littoral

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced an additional 900 million frs CFA the fight against HIV/AIDS in the Littoral region of Cameroon.

The US embassy in Yaounde made the announcement Thursday August 29 as part of President Bidens Emergency Emergency Plan for HIV/AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

“The U.S. Embassy is proud to to announce a significant increase in the availability of health commodities in Cameroon.” the US embassy announced saying, “the Regional Fund for Health Promotion for Littoral will receive over 900 million FCFA in additional funding through the USAID.”

The support, the US embassy said will enhance the Increasing Site-Level Availability of Health Commodities (ISAHC) project in all the regions of Cameroon.

The project was launched in August 2023 in Douala with 588million.

In July, a USAID team visited Douala to strengthen the Regional Fund for Health Promotion and Increasing Site-level Availability of Health Commodity teams for effective project execution, leading to better health outcomes in the Littoral region.

Statistics in the Littoral region show 84,723 people are living with HIV.
