Two days after Christian Cardinal Tumi was released from Ambazonian captivity, a video has emerged showing his time there with them.
Talking to his captors while still being held, the religious leader who recently celebrated his 90th birthday stood his ground, denying taking sides with the government in the four-year-long armed conflict.
“I am not the mouthpiece of the government, I am not employed by the government… I will preach the truth, … Nobody has the right to tell me to preach the contrary because I was called by God” he told separatist fighters who chided him for encouraging others to lay down their weapons and head to DDR centers.
The Catholic prelate goes on to explain to his captors what the difference is between justice and peace, insisting that with peace. Showing resoluteness as he spoke to his captors, the Cardinal highlighted that he is a Cameroonian as are those who claimed to be ‘Ambazonian’.
The Cardinal’s kidnap has been widely condemned, same as that of the Fon of Nso who was taken with him and has not been released yet.
