Peace crusader, Esther Njomo Omam has dedicated her recognition of service to peacebuilders, pledging not to relent till peace returns to the country.

She was speaking at a ceremony that held at the Synod Office Hall of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon at an an award ceremony hosted by the Peace Award clCommittee.

Recognized as the pioneer female peacebuilder and awarded the 2020 Peace Award by the PCC Peace Office and the Union of Peace Builders in Cameroon, Esther Njomo Omam who hails from Boa Balondo in Cameroon’s Ndian Division is Executive Director of nonprofit organisation, Reach Out Cameroon.

“It is a humbling honor to accept this recognition by the Peace Office of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon along with the peace builders Union of Cameroon,” she said.

Esther Njomo further expressed her joy, stating that the recognition was worth celebrating but should also be an indication that more work is yet to be done.

“… The fact that in only three years this beloved land of ours has descended from a model of peace to one of the fastest deteriorating humanitarian catastrophes in the world is one that should be sobering to us all. It is a reminder of the work that still needs to be done…,” she added.

To her, “… Every life lost to this senseless war is one too many.”

The peace crusader and humanitarian dedicated her award to all who strive to maintain peace in different corners of the globe despite the odds they face.

She said “… many of them have paid the ultimate price, and it is on their shoulders that I stand every day. It is my honor to accept this award today, however, the best gift that I could ever ask for is a return of peace to our beloved land.”

“To all of those who stand against peace, please know that those of us who have righteousness on our side will not tire until peace returns to this land. As the Bible says in Matthew chapter 5 verse 9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God,” she promised.

Other laureates included His Eminence Christian Cardinal Tumi, and Atigi Samuel who were awarded in the male and youth categories respectively.
