The 2026 edition of the FENASSCO League A has officially concluded, with the West Region emerging as the overall winner after a week-long showcase of young sporting talent across Cameroon. Hosted in the cities of Bafoussam and Bangangté, the national secondary school games ran from April 20 to April 26, bringing together student-athletes from across the country in a celebration of excellence, unity, and sportsmanship.

West Region Tops Medal Table at FENASSCO 2026

At the close of the competition, the West Region delivered a dominant performance, finishing at the top of the medal standings with a total of 87 medals, including 34 gold. This strong showing secured the region the coveted FENASSCO League A trophy on home soil.

The Centre Region finished in second place with 57 medals, including 19 gold, while the Littoral Region placed third overall with 63 medals, 17 of which were gold. The results highlight the competitive depth across regions, with several teams demonstrating consistent performances throughout the tournament.

Minister Praises Organisation and Announces Yaoundé as Next Host

The closing ceremony was presided over by Cameroon’s Secondary Education Minister, Nalova Lyonga, who commended athletes, organisers, and partners for the successful execution of the games. She praised the spirit of fair play, teamwork, and social cohesion displayed by participants, while also highlighting the high standards of organisation and sponsorship.

In a key announcement, the Minister confirmed that Yaoundé will host the next edition of the FENASSCO League A, marking a transition to the nation’s capital for the continuation of the country’s flagship school sports competition.

South West Region Shines in Football Final

In the football category, the South West Region delivered a standout performance, defeating the Littoral Region in the final match. The victory earned special recognition from the Minister, who applauded the team’s determination and excellence on the pitch.

FENASSCO Games Promote Unity and Youth Development

Beyond the competition, the 2026 FENASSCO Games once again underscored their broader significance as a platform for promoting inclusion, transparency, cultural diversity, and national unity. The event continues to play a critical role in identifying and nurturing young talent while fostering connections among students from different regions of Cameroon.

As the curtain falls on this year’s edition, attention now shifts to Yaoundé, where preparations are expected to begin for the next chapter of the National Secondary School Games, with expectations already building for another vibrant and competitive tournament.
