The Women International League for peace and Freedom, WILPF Cameroon branch, has offered free training and equipment to internally displaced women in Nkong-Ni, Menoua Division of the West region.

Thanks to the offer, the living conditions of internally displaced women and girls in Nkong-Ni expected to be improved significantly.

They will now have the capacity to engage in their own income-generating activities.

“The skills were chosen according to the needs of the beneficiaries. We brought together young mothers and internally displaced women in the area to find out what their training needs are. We have focused on products that can easily be sold in the locality where they are,” explained Vidal Ngaleu, one of the trainees.

Pastry, decorations, mushroom cultivation, manufacture of soap and bleach are among the many skills imparted during the free sessions.

The projet manager at WILPF Cameroon was delighted with the excellent results achieved so far.

“We trained them in digital marketing. We have girls who have posted smoked fish on their whatsapp profile and found customers. This allowed them to smoke cartons of fish and be able to earn a living,” he noted.

During the ceremony for the delivery of training certificates and starter kits, the authorities welcomed and appreciated this initiative by WILPF Cameroon.

Bordering Mmockbie in Lebialem division of the South-West Region, the locality of Nduh-Djuttitsa where the said internally displaced women and girls from the District of Nkong-Ni were trained, hosts a very large number of internally displaced of the Anglophone crisis.
