Passengers at a travel agency in Yaounde, Cameroon today say their day was far from being desirable after being left in the scorching sun for hours.
After purchasing tickets for Buea in the South West Region in the morning, they say they only left the facility late in the evening.
“We are frustrated here at the Musango bus park in Mvan. Since 10:00am till 5:30pm, people who have paid tickets had no bus to travel,” one of them said.
Frustrated, some of the scores of passengers left the travel agency, seeking other means to travel.
A majority of the passengers who could not incur the additional cost it required, had no choice but wait. “The workers here are not even helping it, they neither want to reimburse nor postpone the tickets, and are very rude,” the passenger remarked.
Workers at the agency, the passenger added, told them they could go if they had surpassed their threshold of patience, but denied reimbursing them for any tickets bought.
“All they say is if you cannot wait for whatever time the bus is coming, then u can go… We are very disappointed with Musango…” exclaimed a passenger, adding the delay cost passengers who had other journeys to embark on after arriving Buea more.
“… I pity the women travelling with little babies. So sad!” He added.
At press time, the agency has made no official comment on today’s situation, nor rendered an official apology to the passengers.
Todays incident is one of a myriad of issues often raised by travelers in the country, with regards to transportation conditions and travel agencies. Others include overcrowding in buses, the lack of restrooms, poor customer service and non-customer friendly staff.
