Three men have been presented to the press and public by Gendarmes in the nation’s capital Yaounde for alleged kidnaping.
The suspects now detained, are believed to have taken a father and his son captive before demanding the sum of 60 million FCFA.
The three, it is said, had abducted the father and son in the Soa on the outskirts of Yaounde, with the support of a family member of their victims.
The visited their victims and threatened to harm them if they failed to cooperate.
They then presented a sheet of paper containing the names of all family members, before demanding the sum of five million CFA francs per person present in the house.
With a total of nine people in the house including three dogs, they were asked to pay the sum of 60 million CFA francs for their freedom.
Unable to squeeze out the money, the kidnappers are said to have carted away the man and his son after blindfolding them.
The kidnappers however were arrested barely 24 hours later thanks to the tracking of their mobile devices. The arrested are expected to stand trial at the Mfoundi High Court to answer for their actions.
