Twenty-five people have been detained in Germany today on suspicion of plotting to topple the government.
A German prince, a former far-right lawmaker, a serving soldier, former police officers, and members of the elite special forces were all held.
The idea was to assault the German parliament, detain the members, and kill the chancellor. A former far-right member of Parliament would be given control over a national purge, and a prince descending from German aristocracy would become the new head of state.
The power network would be compromised in order to aid the coup. Off-grid communication via satellite phones had previously been purchased.
A nationwide far-right terrorist network in Germany allegedly planned to carry out that, according to German prosecutors and intelligence officials, before 3,000 police officers and members of the Special Forces fanned out across the nation on Wednesday to raid 150 homes and detain 25 suspected accomplices.
