The Social Democratic Front, SDF party has resolved to keep its members of parliament out of the November session of parliament. This, the party says, is as a result of the delay to implement the resolutions of the just ended Major National Dialogue that had among other recommendations, the granting of a special status to the North West and South West regions.

The decision to boycott the session was reached at after the party’s National Executive Committee, NEC meeting over the weekend. It also comes following an earlier NEC meeting in August where the party threatened to pull its representatives from parliament of the government failed to hasten steps meant to resolve the crisis.

This is not the first time the SDF is using parliament to express it’s dissatisfaction with the handling of state affairs, as its MPs had walked out of sessions several times in protest.

Like most November sessions of parliament, the main item on the agenda for this year’s which opens on Tuesday for both the lower and upper houses is expected to be the state budget. The representatives however will also be expected to handle matters arising from the Yaounde Major National Dialogue.

Their recent action also comes a few months to the parliamentary and municipal elections. It is still not clear whether the party will take part in the elections, as it has always highlighted the need for resolving the crisis before any elections.
