The group of 32 disgruntled Social Democratic Front party bigwigs has refused to quit the party after Article 8.2 of the constitution was used to dismiss them for promoting anti-party activities.
One of the firebrand members of the group, Jean Michel Nintcheu and his supporters released a communique on February 27 in which they termed as null and void, the decision of the party’s national executive committee, which met on February 25 and dismissed them from the party.
They said their dismissal “does not respect the procedures provided for by the texts of the party.”
“The G27+ is committed to continue the fight for the restoration of democracy and justice within our political party and therefore invites activists to stay tuned for other actions of which they will be informed in due course,” they stated.
Most of the G27+ members are top officials of the SDF party, with some holding positions of responsibility within the party.
Meeting in Mbouda, West Region, last month, they tabled several complaints against the party’s founder and Chairman, Ni John Fru Ndi, and the secretary general Djomgang Adeline, accusing them of violating the party constitution in some decisions he took last year.
They dragged the Chairman to court to force him to annul the decisions which he took.
But in an exclusive chat with MMI, the chairman denied violating the constitution, stating that the G27+ members want to destroy the party.
He is being accused of imposing his favourites into positions within the party, including the National Executive Committee, which is the highest decision making organ of the SDF.
