Unidentified men said to be robbers, broke into the Edea II Council building on the night of October 5 breaking October 6.
The discovery was made by the workers of the city on the morning of October 6, 2022.
Windows were broken, office doors forced and offices scattered as the robbers searched for money to make away with.
According to Emmanuel Eboule a security guard at the Council hall, the thieves tied his legs and blindfolded him before proceeding with their operation.
“They pushed me inside and tied my legs and my hands. They sealed my mouth and my eyes with the use of a scotch.”
He added: “They asked where the money is being kept and I told them money is only being kept at the bank, and that we have not been paid for six months today. “
Reacting to the robbery, Jean Mbei Njen, Mayor of the Edea II Council, reiterated that the savings of the Council have not been tampered with. He equally indicated that “those who carried out the act are not doing so to hurt the mayor, but the population as a whole. This act will not cause us to relent in our efforts, we will continue working for the population.”
Investigations are however being carried out to lay hands on the perpetrators of the act, who according to the Mayor, will be punished accordingly.
