A suspected case of coronavirus in Maroua, Far North region of Cameroon has been dismissed by public health officials in the country.
An American citizen suspected of carrying the virus had travelled to the area recently, raising fears of a possible case.
However, “clinical tests have been conducted and the outcome was satisfactory, ” says health authorities.
Encouraging citizens to immediately notify competent authorities, in case of symptoms of the virus, Health Minister Manaouda Malachie also provided an emergency number: 1510 for the population to contact.
Minister Manaouda has also called on the population to be more vigilant and to continue to take preventive measures against the virus.
