The Saint Philippe Clinic, located in Biyem Assi, Yaoundé, Centre region has been suspended by the government after a doctor allegedly killed a patient.
According to sources, the victim, Bruno Tchonang who suffered from a hernia had gone to the Yaounde Central Hospital for a surgical operation when he was directed to the Sainte Philippe Clinic, a private clinic owned by one of the doctors.
Once at the clinic, a doctor whose identity MMI is yet to obtain will, “cut an artery before closing the wound. A few minutes after he left, the sheets were full of blood,” said a source.
In a recent communique, the Regional Delegate for Public Health ordered the suspension of the clinic.
“Employment of personnel not authorized to practice medicine in private practice and to carry out specific medico-surgical procedures and Endangering human lives,” were among the reasons advanced by the Regional Delegate for the suspension.
Unprofessionalism has become rampant in several medical facilities in Cameroon, putting the lives of citizens at stake.
