Cameroonian influencer announces wedding
Cameroonian TikTok influencer Patrice Wogha has announced his upcoming wedding to Inna Angoussa, a woman from the East Region of Cameroon. The couple has set their wedding date for January 25, 2025, with the civil ceremony scheduled at the Douala I Town Hall and the religious ceremony at the Cathedral in Bonamoussadi. Patrice revealed that the town hall has promised to cover all the wedding expenses.
Their relationship has garnered significant attention and sparked controversy online. Many netizens have questioned why Patrice, based in Douala, would choose to marry Inna, a woman from the East Region, leading to discussions about cultural perceptions and stereotypes.
In late October, Patrice began sharing photos and videos expressing his love for Inna, referring to her as his wife. Initially, many dismissed it as a publicity stunt, considering his status as a social media influencer. However, his persistent posts featuring Inna gradually convinced some that his intentions might indeed be genuine. Yet, skepticism remains, with others doubting his sincerity or questioning Inna’s motives.
One netizen commented, “He was charmed by the girl; Pygmies are very good at that.” The idea that Patrice chose a village girl, perceived as uneducated, over city-educated women has led some to speculate that he was bewitched. Others believe Patrice is using Inna for social media attention, warning of potential consequences. “You should not be using this girl for social media; the end might be destructive for you because the Pygmies don’t joke with their daughters,” cautioned another user.
Amid the uproar, Patrice Wogha brought Inna to the city to introduce her to urban life. He explained, “Since her birth, she has never been to town. She now knows how to cross the road. I also wanted to show that it is possible to take a woman from the village and transform her.”
Inna’s family members also accompanied the couple for an interview on Vision 4 Television. During the session, Inna’s elder brother claimed, “He was charmed by my junior sister, and he himself doesn’t even know where he is.” Netizens fuelled speculation with this statement, while others dismissed it as out of context, insisting the relationship is genuine love.
In a separate interview with Naja TV, Inna expressed her indifference to the online criticisms: “It does not hurt me because I know that I have not charmed my husband. It is just natural love that brought us together.”
Speaking on Sun TV, Patrice revealed that their relationship has deep roots and that they have been together for three years. He disclosed that they already have a son and are expecting a second child. He narrated how his heartbreak from a past relationship led him to appreciate Inna’s simplicity and warmth.
“I already knew her very well, given that I own hectares of land in the East, which I always visited every morning with her to work. At the time, I was just recovering from a romantic disappointment in the city. I was dating a girl who was a model, and I was deeply hurt because she blocked me just to celebrate her boyfriend’s birthday. It hurt me a lot, and I told myself it was best to give up on city girls. When I saw how welcoming the Pygmies were—the simplicity and everything—I realized that what could bring me happiness was right next to me,” explained Patrice.
Inna also revealed an interesting cultural belief about her pregnancy. Although she hasn’t undergone an ultrasound, she confidently said she is expecting a boy: “In our culture, we have a leaf that, when placed on the stomach of a pregnant woman, reveals the sex of the child.”
As the wedding date approaches, the couple continues to receive mixed reactions online. While some netizens eagerly await the wedding day to confirm if the event is genuine or another social media stunt, others who believe in their love story have expressed their best wishes for the couple.
The upcoming wedding of Patrice Wogha and Inna Angoussa has become a topic of widespread discussion, highlighting the complexities of online relationships and cultural perceptions in Cameroon.
